Food & Wine Trip: Day 5
Day 5 was sadly the last day of our amazing friends trip, but oh what a trip it was!
We got up and got ready, did our last minute packing and kinda took it slow (it was gloomy out). Then we headed to the lobby and checked our luggage and left our carry-ons will Bell Services.
We obviously had to start our day at Epcot, since we were in Epcot literally every single day of our trip, so why break tradition at the end?
We walked by Mickey and Minnie on our way in and out of the park every single day while we were there and they always had long lines. As luck would have it, on our final morning, neither had much of a line at all! So, we obviously took full advantage of that, got hugs and love from our favorite mice, and it honestly lessened sting a bit of it being the final day.

Minnie loved my outfit, of course. And, I mean, how could she not?? I was inspired by the fashion icon herself!

To continue our theme of sticking to tradition, we had to make one more breakfast stop in France for chocolate mousse and chocolate chip brioche and cappuccino. I mean, breakfast is not this amazing at home so we had to take advantage while we could. And, I don’t think I said it enough in my other posts, but staying at one of the Epcot area resorts was my favorite thing ever! Be able to just walk over into the World Showcase was seriously the best!
As we were heading back out of France to head towards Future World (which, if you don’t know or haven’t been in the World Showcase before it opens, you have to do via the UK and Canada, you can’t get past France), we found a wonderful PhotoPass photographer without a line, so we snagged a few more pictures.

Since the World Showcase wasn’t open yet and Figment had a short wait, we made our way up to Future World to kill some time and see our favorite little purple dragon.
We really wanted 1 more Italian Margarita since it was our favorite drink of the trip, and we really didn’t have anything else in Epcot we wanted to do before heading over to Hollywood Studios, so we headed to the World Showcase and waited by the rope between Norway and China until it was time to head over to Italy.
We got our delicious drinks and slowly made our way to the International Gateway as we sipped.
Since we’d taken the Skyliner and walked to Hollywood Studios every other time we went back and forth, we decided to take the boat this time to head on over.
We made our way over to Toy Story Land and Lori grabbed herself a grilled cheese for lunch at Woody’s Lunchbox. I wasn’t hungry yet but it looked delicious so I just made a mental note for later.
I’d never ridden Alien Swirling Saucers, and it had a 35 minute wait, so we hopped in line. It was insanely humid out and that honestly felt like a lot longer than 35 minutes, but it was pretty accurate. I had a feeling the ride would be similar to Mater’s ride and I was exactly right. It was cute, not really worth a wait in my opinion, but I’m glad I rode it. Got a little breeze for a bit, which was fabulous.
I realize as I’ve reflected on this trip, there were a lot of firsts for each of us. One such first for me was finally getting to ride Slinky Dog Dash because we managed to snag a
FastPass! And I absolutely LOVED the ride!!
I’ve seen and heard many people speak of it as though it is a kids’ ride but, as a thrill lover, I found it incredibly fun and entertaining.

Then it was my turn for a grilled cheese at Woody’s Lunchbox and it was just as delicious as it looked.
After my lunch, we had another 1st for me and went to the Frozen Singalong show at the Hyperion Theater and it was so cute! Loved the humor from the narrators and I never turn down an excuse to sing along to Frozen music.
Sadly, Frozen was our last event in the parks for the trip and it was time to start the walk back to Beach Club to wait for the Tragic Express. As we were walking out of Hollywood, we saw the sky to our right was looking VERY dark, so we picked up the pace, turned onto the walking path, and kept anxiously checking over our shoulders as we tried to outrun (really out power walk) the storm. There were loud rumbles behind us the whole way, and by the time we were crossing the bridge near Swan & Dolphin, the rain was starting. We sprinted the last few hundred yards as the rain picked and got ourselves under cover at the Yacht Club to walk the rest of the way to Beach. By the time we got into the lobby, it was absolutely torrentially raining.
We plopped down on chairs in lobby and waited to dry off a bit. We sat and relaxed for awhile, then grabbed some snacks in the gift shop and sat in the Solarium for awhile more before grabbing my carry-on from Bell Services (which held the souvenirs I bought that were fragile + our changes of clothes) and changed into dry, comfy clothes for the trip home
The Tragic Express arrived at 5:50 to pick us up and we were off to Orlando International to begin the trip home.
Thanks for reading along! Come back to read about my husband’s work trip from December 2019!
